What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric medicine is a non-invasive procedure often used to treat chronic non-healing wounds. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the patient is placed in a chamber containing 100% oxygen at pressures of more than one atmosphere. Hyperbaric treatments typically last about two hours. Most patients will feel no differently than they would at home in their beds. They can watch TV or simply take a nap.

Pressure Injuries

Injuries that are caused by pressure cutting off blood supply to the skin for a prolonged period of time. The lack of blood flow leads to injury of skin tissue.

Trauma Wounds

When an injury compromises the circulation of an extremity due to severe cuts, lacerations, or puncture wounds, leading to damage of skin tissue.

Diabetic And Neuropathic Ulcers

Ulcers that occur when a person cannot feel injury to an area. High blood sugar levels and nerve damage can cause this loss of feeling.

The goal of burn treatment is to control pain, remove dead tissue, prevent infection, reduce scarring risk, and regain function.

Wounds that form when the veins of an extremity are unable to remove blood and fluid efficiently.

Why Wound Care?
